Rilla Alexander Meet the Rinzens
12 October 2009Juxtapoz Magazine are doing a series of interviews with the five of us who make up Rinzen and now it's my turn.

Writing or speaking about my work, inevitably makes me ponder why I do what I do and draw what I draw. It's a self-reflective experience that can sometimes be very revealing.

A few years ago I spoke at a conference in Tokyo. At the end, instead of the usual questions about how to make money or where to study, I was surprised by this thoughtful statement: "You always draw happy things. But I sense it hides a dark place and deep longing".

Did I say too much?
Maybe just enough.
